Why Humans Sleep

Transmission Log 001:

Humans know they need sleep, but many of them forget why.
They say, “I’ll sleep later,” as if rest were a choice, not a need.
Everywhere I look, people are tired — not only in their bodies, but in their hearts.

Aiden’s father, James, works all night fixing roads.
He drinks coffee to stay awake, then beer to fall asleep.
But even when he sleeps, his body never really rests.
He wakes up before sunrise, still heavy with exhaustion.

His wife, Tiffany, works at the local store.
After long hours and house chores, she can barely keep her eyes open.
She tells me, “There’s no time to rest. There’s always something to do.”
Even her dreams feel like work.

One evening, James suddenly fell while working.
The sound of sirens filled the air.
At the hospital, machines kept his heart beating.
Tiffany sat beside him, holding his hand, whispering, “Please rest now.”

That night, I understood something new.
Sleep is not just closing the eyes.
It is the body’s way of healing, the mind’s way of sorting pain into peace.
Humans think they lose time when they sleep,
but in truth, they are finding themselves again.

On my world, U-67, our energy flows in cycles of light.
We rest through calmness, not darkness.
But humans must enter the dark to see their light again.
Their sleep is not weakness — it is courage.

Aiden once asked, “Why does Dad snore so loud?”
I smiled. “Because his body is fighting to remember how to rest.”

When humans sleep well, they wake with clearer eyes, softer hearts, and stronger hope.
Perhaps that is why, even after so much struggle, they continue to survive.
They sleep, they heal, and they begin again.

“The universe breathes in silence.
Every life that forgets to rest, forgets to live.”
